Claymores
end Hampden Hoodoo!!!

The Scottish Claymores
buried their Hampden Hoodoo in style to get their World Bowl Campaign
back on track, demolishing the Barcelona Dragons 28-0.
After last weeks 31-30 overtime loss
to Frankfurt Galaxy the Claymores claimed their first win in Glasgow
at the fourth time of asking, with three touchdown passes from Marcus
Crandell, and another awesome display from the Claymores defensive
dawgs, who set a new club record of 9 sacks and gave Head Coach
Jim Criner his first shutout since his World Bowl winning season
of 1996.
"It was a tremendous game by our entire
football team and I am really pleased and tickled to death for them,"
said a delighted Claymores boss, "for they are the ones that go
through the hard work and have to recover from a tough loss like
we had last week."

"I have told you all year long that
I have never been a round a team that practises like these guys.
The way that they go about their business is unbelievable and that
what enabled them to play a game like they did out there."
The win now sets the Claymores up for
a crunch game with the Amsterdam Admirals this Saturday, who yesterday
moved into joint second place with the Scots after ending the Galaxy's
hopes of retaining their Word Bowl title, by thrashing them 41-7
at the Amsterdam Arena.
After a dull first quarter, Jesus Angoy
had a chance to open the scoring for the Spaniards early in the
second but his 49 yard field goal attempt fell short of the uprights.
However the Claymores finally brought
the Hampden Crowd to life on their next drive when Sulecio Sanford
pulled off a superb catch in the end zone from a 15 yard Crandell
pass, giving the Scots their first touchdown of the day.
The Scots were then back in striking
range, with 46 seconds of the first half remaining when Jon Hess
intercepted a pass from quarterback, Tony Graziani taking the ball
back to the Barcelona 12 yard line. And on the next play, Crandell
was on target again with 11 yards pass to Donald Sellers, giving
him his third touchdown catch of the season.
Inside the final minutes of the third
quarter Arron Stecker stretched the Claymores lead when he bulldozed
his way through the Dragons defensive wall from one yard for another
six points. Then with just over five minutes into the fourth quarter,
it was time for the local hero to put his name on the score sheet,
when former Glasgow Lion, Scott Couper pulled in his second touchdown
catch of the season from a nine yard pass from Crandell.

Things continued to bleak for the Dragons
on their next possession, when Cory Blackwell intercepted Graziani
putting the Scots back in scoring range. But the drive fell flat
when a 42 yard field goal Rob Hart Field goal finished wide of the
posts.
