TIGERS CLAW
OUT THE PERFECT SEASON

Glasgow Tigers Head
Coach Lee Adams insists that hs team has got what it takes to go all the
way and clinch their first British Title in 11 years after a 23-6 victory
over the Stirling Clansmen at Airthey Castle this afternoon.
The win gives the
Tigers the perfect 8-0 regular season record along with home field advantage
in the first round of the BCAFL Play offs at Glasgow’s Garscube
Complex.
The Glasgow side’s
last championship win was a 26-0 victory over the Leicester Lemmings back
in 1994 and the Glasgow Boss knows that home advantage in the knock out
stages will play a huge factor with regards to their championship play
offs
He said: “To
be ranked number one and to have home field advantage will make a huge
difference.”
“We have played
at home during Wildcard games, but this time we are ranked number one
so we can expect everybody who comes to us to be under a lot more pressure
than we are.”
“Our team now
believe in themselves. They have gone from 4-4 to 5-3 and now 8-0 and
it is pretty much the same team. So for a lot of the guys this season,
this will be their last chance and they will give it everything that they
have got.”
Following a two point
safety from Digger Grant early in the first quarter, the Glasgow side
then increased their lead through a touchdown run from Ronald Gaffin along
with a fumbled recovery into the endzone from Justin Bergeron early in
the second.
However the Tigers,
who lost to the Clansmen in the play offs at the same venue twelve months
ago soon found themselves under pressure when the Clansmen reduced the
deficit to 10 points after a 38 yard run by Paul Gallagher at the start
of the final period.
But with home advantage
at stake, the Tigers finally wrapped things up in the dying minutes when
Quarterback Matt McCusker hooked up a 35 yard completion with Kenny McPhail.
“Stirling got
a cheeky score and their confidence became a lot more than it was in the
first half,” said the Tigers Boss.
“Out defense
put in a hell of an effort today to stop them from coming back again.
The offense finally got that last score, we should have taken a knee but
Kenny decided he was going to score. He needed the All Star Nomination.”

With the environmentalists
telling us all the time that the earth continues to get warmer, then it
was obvious that none of the them had been to the picturesque settings
of Airthey Castle playing fields.
The sun was shining
and it was a perfect day for a football game except for a wind chill of
at least -5. But nothing was going to stand in the way of what was to
be a hard hitting game.
