Following the demise of the of the Scottish Claymores and the Home Nations Championship, Scottish gridiron success at international level have become a bit of a rare commodity these days.

This week, the British American Football association confirmed the rescheduled date of the annual GB scrimmage, (AKA, the Scotland v England Youth internationa)l, where the Scotland team will be looking to build on last month’s victory over the Gateshead Senators.

But across the Atlantic, Scottish gridiron success continues with former Scottish internationalists taking the Americans on at their own game and earning plaudits along the way.

Kilmacolm's Gary Clark, who started his gridiron apprenticeship with the Inverclyde Sharks and Clyde Valley Hawks has been making a big impression with Lakeland College Muskies in North America along with fellow Scot Lee Collins from South Lanarkshire..

And at the end of 2006, Clark, who has ambitions to follow a professional career, earned all conference honours when was named as one of the winners in the Illini-Badger Football Conference awards.

During this year 6-foot-4 Clark caught the attention of the Conference bosses being an integral part of the Muskies' defensive line this season with 24 solo tackles and nine assisted tackles for 33 total.

He was also second on the team in tackles for a loss, racking up 40 yards for a loss on nine tackles, and third on the team in sacks with seven, earning an honourable mention.
