BAPTISM OF FIRE

On Saturday the 17th of March the Clyde Valley Falcons (Junior Kitted Team) set off for sunny Kirkcaldy in the kingdom of Fife.

This was arranged between Coaches Bramwell for Fife Fife and Coach Macmillan for Clyde Valley.

The aim of the day was to get the both teams some sort of competitive game but still allow coaching to go on at the same time.

On arrival it was obvious that Fife were all fired up and ready to go as the Falcons could hear them from the other side of the park. When both teams were ready the coaches introduced themselves to the boys and stipulated that this first part was controlled and would stop and start.Fife took to the field first and tried to establish a running game

.This was halted by Nose Guard Jamie Dickie who had a great game and made no less than 14 solo tackles and 1 sack.

After the first ten downs it was the chance of the Falcons to take to the field. After only three plays the Falcons scored a 30 yard Touch Down with a pass from Quarter Back Mark Winter to Receiver Christopher McCrum.

The Falcons showed they were not going to take it easy just because the Fire were new to the game and went on to score 5 more TDs in the controlled game .

At the end of this the coaches decided to try a short game .The Falcons won the toss and didn't look back.TDs were scored by McCrum,Sharp,Dickie ,Davie and new boy Scot Frame who also got 2 interceptions.

On the defencive side of the ball The stall was set out right from the start as Mark winter made a crunching tackle on Fires first run stopping it in its tracks. The tackling was fierce with Symington and Dickie following Davies example.

The M.V.P.s for The Falcons were QB Mark Winter and NG Jamie Dickie and for Fife Fire Running Back Joel Kwokoye and Safety Kerran Smith.

The Falcons Coach Macmillan said: "Fife showed a lot of promise for such a new team and will learn a lot through game experience next week at Inverness when they meet the rest of the teams in the first tournament of the season."

"They have two great coaches Mark and Don to guide them forward."
