Representatives
from the Dundee Hurricanes attended Dundee City Councils "Sport Dundee"
awards ceremony on Wednesday 17th November, after making through to the
final of the Team of the Year category.
The awards ceremony,
being broadcast on Radio Tay, recognises and celebrates all the sporting
achievements from individual athletes, coaches, volunteers, clubs and
teams. They found themselves amongst some formidable company, with national,
European and World champions in attendance, including recent Athens GB
Hockey Olympian, Niall Stott.
Despite the teams own accomplishment in such a short space of time, they
finished as runner-up to team category winners, Bonagrass Grove Hockey
squad, who are current Scottish league and cup champions, and are one
of Europe’s top sides, having finished top of their European league
division this year.
Team Manager "Charlie Campbell" commented, "It is great
to be nominated for these events, and shows that other people involved
in mainstream sports are taking notice of our hard work".
Head Coach Bruce Foster
said, "The fact that the Dundee Sports Council is recognising our
organisation at such an event is a testament to all the hard work being
done by everyone involved at the club. It is only fitting that players
take the credit and get the opportunity to collect the runners-up award".
