NFL FLAG FEST
The
NFL, in conjuction with the Dundee Hurricanes American Football team are
inviting all high schools from across Scotland to participate in the 2007
World 5 on 5 Flag Football Championships. Dundee Hurricanes will play
host to one of the early qualifying rounds in late April/early May at
a venue to still to be confirmed.
Five current high schools, Dundee, Monifeith, Harris, St Johns and Braeview
have already expressed their willingness to enter. The winners will go
onto either the Scottish finals or represent Scotland against England
in late May. The winner of that will represent Great Britain at the European
qualifiers, with the top three teams from that moving onto to play at
the World Championships later this year.
All teams must have
a maximum of 6 Players and one chaperone (co-ed teams will be allowed
to bring seven (7) players and one male and one female chaperone) and
all players must be born between September 1st 1992 and December 31st
1995.
Previous World Championships have been played in Mexico, China, Australia
and Canada. Last years competition was in Germany and was won for the
second year running by Thailand.
Dundee's own school flag football league is set to kick off in May through
to June.
