BAFL League 2005
Glasgow
Tigers 12 at Dundee Hurricanes 13
In their first meeting
of the season there was little to separate these divisional rivals. It
was Dundee who looked the better team in the 1st quarter as they took
the lead on a 21yard pass to wideout Fraser Thomson and the Hurricanes
then successfully kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
At the start of the
2nd quarter the Glasgow Defence thought they had brought their team back
into the game when Ryan Hunter intercepted a stray Dundee pass and took
it back 60 yards into the endzone. The score was negated on an illegal
block and it was the Dundee side then increased their lead to 13-0 with
a drive built on the running of Niakate. This one was a 45 yard pass again
hauled in by Fraser Thomson.
.
In the second half
the Tigers looked a different team and their Offence began to put some
positive yardage on the stats sheet.
QB McLauchlan connected
with Ryan Hunter for a 45 yard passing score but the extra point kick
went wide.
Then midway through
the 4th quarter the same Tigers duo repeated their feat with a 35 yard
passing score.
The Glasgow side thought
they had gone ahead with a 2 point conversion pass to Robert Campbell
but it was called back for another penalty and the second Tigers attempt
fell incomplete to leave the game at 13-12 to Dundee.
Both sides then relied
on their defensive units to prevent any further scoring and the Hurricanes
held out for their first win of the season.
