Dundee Hurricanes American Football Team - British American Football - British American Football League Division 2

HURRICANES SHEFFIELD BOUND!!!

The Dundee Hurricanes have sensationally reached their first British final after defeating the Manchester Titans 50-12.

The home side started in confident mood and soon began to dominate the game. A Mahamodou Niakate kick-off pinned the Titans deep in their own half and after a strong defensive series the Hurricanes won the ball back.

The home side struck first, when Niakate opened the scoring with a long run. They then soon added another score when QB Bruce Thomson ran in to the endzone.

A Niakate extra point attempt was good, giving the Hurricanes a convincing 13-0 advantage.

The 2nd quarter was scoreless. A Hurricanes safety at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, increased their lead to 15-0.

This was soon followed by another score from Niakate, this time from 41 yards out to make it 21-0.

A resilient Manchester would not lie down and mounted a comeback, with 2 quick scores of their own through the air. But the Hurricanes defense made adjustments to stop any further comeback from the Titans, allowing their offense back on the field.

Bruce Thomson soon connected with WR Darren Henderson for a TD and the 2PAT (29-12). Thomson added another score at the start of the final period with his 3rd score of the day and Niakate also added another score and the 2 point conversion.

Hurricanes TE Stewart Adam go in on the act running in a 14yd reverse, with Niakate rounding off the days scoring with the extra point kick.

After the West Coast Trojans surprising loss to Ipswich in the Div 1 semi-final, the Hurricanes will be Scotland's only representatives at Don Valley Stadium on the 22nd September where they will face the Norwich Devils for the right to be crowned Div 2 championships.
