A PERFECT SEASON ?
Pics and Report C/O Clyde Valley American Football
Clyde Valley American football is on the up and up .With the start of the Senior team The Clyde Valley Blackhawks now on the go the full program is in place .With the look of the talent in the Junior section (The Falcons) Clyde Valley are safe for years to come.
The Falcons were 14 v 0 going into the last tournament in Dunfermline ( The Kingdom Bowl) and looking to finish the league season ndefeated.
They would have to beat Dundee Storm a young fast hard hitting outfit .Edinburgh Wolves with some real athletes in the team and finally the host Fife Fire who won their home tournament last year and were looking to do the same this year.
The Falcons came up against the storm first but were not fired up enough.
At half time on a wet stormy day they had ground out a lead 16 v 0 but things got a little choppy in the second half with some fumbles and a pick from Dundee the score ended up a tight 24 v 20 to Clyde Valley MVP went to Falcons Callum (Action man) Woods.
Then it was Fife fire that the Falcons had to face. The fire had high hopes with some new additions to the squad but couldn't match the speed of the Falcons or the passing skills. After a stop for injury to the Fife QB the game ended up 40 v 12 to the Falcons .
One of the highlights of this game was when Fife number 71 got the ball ( a giant of a boy ) and after 5 hits came out the other side of the Tackles to run in a TD well done lad. MVP for this game went to Falcons Scott (The Rock )Frame.
With only one hurdle left The Falcons were not going to lose their undefeated title and although the Wolves had size and hunted in packs could not catch their prey.
The final score line was 42 v 22 to the Falcons withe MVP going to Callum (Action man ) Woods
Coach Gillespie and Farrel would like to thank Fife for a great day out even with the worst weather we have seen at a tournament all year .
The new facilities are fantastic. The coaches would also like to thank the families of the players for the constant support given to the boys. And finally if you would like to play for Clyde valley no matter what age group contact coach Macmillan on 07787785262
Good luck to the Falcons in the British finals on September 7th
