Pics and Report C/O Clyde Valley Football

The Clyde Valley Falcons (Junior Kited) American football team returned from Doncasters Keep-moat stadium  where they participated in Brit bowl British finals where they successfully defended their British title.

The Falcons started their defence against Chorley Buccaneers in the semi-final coming out 45 - 24 winners. Coach Gillespie put his faith in rookie  QB and put  Alistar Sidey at the helm. This brought about receptions from captain  Craig Samuel and  then Antz McCallum. Callum Woods took in the first Td of the day with one of his trade mark runs dodging tackle after tackle.

Then on the first Chorley drive Samuel's picked off the Chorley QB to run it back for a Td .That broke the confidence of the opposition but fired up the Falcons who were in the end victorious bye the above score line .

This was backed up with solid tackling by the Falcons defence. Special  mentions must go to the Falcons defence who were superb all day with fierce tackling from Ben Fulmer, Sean Fallan and Mickey Orr, they were ably assisted by their two safety's Craig Samuel's and  Nicky Farrell who also intercepted  Chorley and ran the ball back for a touchdown.

Defencive coach Farrell was delighted with the  team's attitude and commitment in the semi-final victory and asked the boys for more of the same in the final.

They contested the final against a big physical looking outfit in London Warriors who hadn't experienced a loss this season, but that was about to change at the hands of the Falcons .

After a defencive stand that lasted  8 plays Craig Samuel had his first of three interceptions of the game helping the Falcons to race into a 20 - 0 half time lead.

Behind some solid tackling on number 7 of the Warriors the Falcons went from strength to strength and in the second half and closed the game 32 - 6 to retain the title of British Champions to the delight of family and friends who travelled down to support the boys on their big occasion.

Coach Gillespie would like to thank the boys for their great efforts through out the season " It makes me proud to be associated with the Falcons when I see what the have done over he past few years "said coach Gillespie

Special thanks go to Lynne Samuel for all her efforts in arranging the weekend's accommodation and transport, thanks also goes to Stevie Fallan for driving the bus and also to the teams sponsor K.M.T CARS (of Mashall St Wishaw) owner Kevin McTear for his donation to the team.
