Falcons v Tigers

The Clyde Valley Falcons took on the Glasgow Tigers on Sunday at 9 man
football.
The game was nearly
cancelled after some torential down pours left the ground fairly soft, but
the skies cleared at the last minute to allow the game to go ahead .
Both teams were looking
for practice as this was the Tigers first 9 man game and the Falcons had
only palyed 9 man twice in the last year as well.It was decided by coach
Clee and coach Gillespie to play a controlled scrimmage where each team
would get 10 downs a piece on offence and then defence
.This went really
well and the coaches decided to play a short game with a running clock
(20 min halfs).
The Falcons won the toss and got the ball to start on the 20yard line
(no kicking or special teams) they ran dives left and right followed by
a sweep right
The tigers stood strong
and with some strong tackles going in from Tigers number 80 and 44 they
halted the Falcons .
Next it was the turn
of the Tigers offence they faired well but lost the ball to the Falcons
who this time got the ball and drove down field lead by QB Winter the
power running was done by Graeme Macmillan ,Blake Kyle and Colin Nichol
Nichol took the ball
on a reverse and ducked and dived his way behind his blockers all the
way to the one yard .
On the very next play
with the same play Nichol ran in left ,this was called back because of
off side on the line .the Falcons lost the ball on the next play with
a Fumble
Again the Tigers
mixed up there plays and moved the ball well before it was Handed back
to the Falcons
This time the Falcons
ran the ball on a sweep left with Macmillan 81 taking it all the way to
the endzone for the first score. The two pointer was a pass from Macmillan
81 to Chriss McCrum on a 5 and out .
The half finished
with a sack on the Tigers Qb by Ryan McCrum 94
The second half started with the Tigers on the ball but went 4 and out.
The Falcons drove
the ball with Kyle 50 Macmillan 81 and Harrison 39 but lost the ball on
downs to the Tigers on there 30yard line .
This time drove the
ball and on the 9th play sucked in the Falcons defence only to pass over
the top of nichol 21 to Burns 80 for a 25 yard completion ending with
a touch down.
The 2 pointer was
good with a reverse to 28 to tie the game. The Falcpns ended the game
with the ball on the Tigers 11 yard line .
The coaches would
like to thank the referees for a good game and also like to thank both
sets of players for a clean hard fought game with an equally fair result
The Falcons are looking
to recruit players at all levels but if you want to play for the Falcons
phone Colin on 01698 281121.Coach Macmillan would like to thank team sponsors
Davidson animal feeds for there help.
