FALCONS FLEDGLINGS COME OF AGE

The Clyde Valley Falcons American football team took on the Bannerman Wildcats at the Heathery playing fields on Sunday the 23rd.

The Falcons are looking to build a new squad of players for next years season as we lose 8 players to the hawks this year.

The game kicked off at 1 o'clock and just 30seconds later a hand off left to Blake Kyle seen the Falcons pick up where they left off last season with a touch down .

The 2 pointer was good with Chriss McCrum pulling in the pass from William Winter.

It was the turn of the swarming defence Nichol,Macmillan ,Kyle, Weir and Ivison to take to the field and just two plays later Ivison forced a fumble which the Falcons recoveredto give the ball back to the offence.

This set the pattern for the first period with the Wildcats unable to move the balland with the Falcons 24 points up it was the turn of the Fledglings to take to the field .

They played well and even although they gave up 3 touch downs they scored 2 themselves .At the end of this period the scores were Falcons 36 v 24 up .

In the final period the old and the new mixed together and with William Winter catching a pass from Alan Harrison ,Graeme Macmillan rumbling in on a sweep .

Chris McCrum pulling in a pass,Declan Morton scoring on a run up the middle and finally Colin Nichol running back a 2 point interception the Falcons ran out comfortable winners by 74 to 24 .

The Falcons will be at home this week to the Tigers in a controlled scrimmage at the Beltane playing fields with kick off taking place at 1pm
