FALCONS GRAND DAY OUT
Pic C/O Clyde Valley Football

Report by Colin MacMillan

The Clyde Valley Falcons took part in the Glasgow Tigers tournament at the weekend and needed to come first or second to keep their chances of making the finals alive.

The first game was against the new boys Edinburgh Wolves .

The team started really well and with a mixture of power running behind Darren Sharpe and Grant Isdale the game was over really fast with the final score being 50 v 0.Falcons Game MVP was given to Jamie Dickie as he was outstanding in pressuring the Wolves offence

Next it was the turn of the West Coast Trojans to face the Falcons this time the coach played a few of the fringe players like young Benjamin Filmer and Johnathon McKinnon both players stood up to the test .

The final score was 39 v 6. Game MVP went to Richard Syme who plays centre and never allowed a sack on his QB all day.

The competition really went up a level next and it was in the form of division leaders the Inverness Wildcats.

This was a ding dong battle and again young Isdale came out on top with three Tds .The Wildcats struggled to cope with his speed.

The wildcats QB Kenny Mackay wasn't going to lie down though and scrambled well making time for his receivers to get open.

The break came for the Falcons when Chriss McCrum intercepted a pass and the score gave the Falcons the lead they needed. The final score was 45 v 31.Falcons MVP was Grant Isdale for his blistering runs.

The Falcons came up against the Tigers in the final .In the first half they froze and were ripped apart by Alan Stein. In the second half it was as though the boys had found a new belief and they came out fighting.

QB McCrum linked well with Mark Winter on a few passes and the defence stopped the Tigers to allow us back in. In the end it was just to big a start to pull back and the Tigers were deserving winners 51 v 31. Falcons MVP was Mark Winter.

The coaches would like to thank the fans for their well mannered support the gave the boys and Heather Winter for all her organising.

Could all players note that training is off this week only.If anyone would like to play contact Colin Macmillan on 07787785262.
