Grants win
GB Honor's
The third son Grant
Winter followed the Winter family (who play for the Clyde Valley American
football team) tradition and made the selection for the Great Britain
flag football team.
Grant
was selected at the beginning of the month to go along to the Scottish
Development trials and was selected for the team ,in fact he shone so
much he was selected for the Great Britain team and went down to Newcastle's
Gateshead stadium to take part in the European flag finals.
Young Grant who is
only 11 has been playing flag football for just 3 seasons .He took the
game up after watching his brothers William and Mark playing and followed
in their steps by being selected for the Holland game.
They got a credible
draw with Holland even although young Grant said they were all huge compared
to him .
They then played the
French and beat them to win the section and meet the Germans in the semi
finals.
Again with a resounding
victory they met the Holland team in the finals but alas even although
young Grant got some play time he couldn't get a score and the Dutch ran
out worthy winners.
Grants coaches William
and Alan both said that it will stand Grant in good stead to have played
and the experience will give him a head start for next year.
Grant who plays receiver
and running back thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would like
to thank all the GB coaches for the opportunity given to him .
He also stated that
the boys were all very friendly and although it was a competition he will
have made some friends for life.
Grants younger brother
Arron who had no interest in the game was so impressed with his big brother
Grant that he has now joined the Clyde Valley Cadet team as well .
Coach Winter would
like to invite anyone along to the Cadet Junior or Youth flag teams where
they will be made welcome.Contact 01698 386039
