Hawks Fleece Rams

(Youth Kitted American Football)

Clyde Valley Hawks 14 – North Lanarkshire Rams 8

This was a must win game for both sides, with the Hawks being the victor in their previous meeting Rams were looking to even up the score.

With both defences proving strong it was the Rams who broke the deadlock at the end of the 1st quarter when Colin Davies connected on a 25 yards pass and scampered to the endzone for the 6 points.

The extra point attempt fell incomplete. After a scoreless 2nd quarter the Rams added to their tally in the 3rd quarter when Rams Jamie Lane overpowered Hawks QB in the endzone for a safety.

The shock was enough to ignite the Hawks, who suddenly came to life in the 4th quarter. Kyle Matheson took the handoff and went on a tackle breaking run for the TD which drew the home side closer.

Scott Findlay tied the score when he connected on a pass for the extra 2 points. Hawks defence held firm and forced the Rams to give up the ball. Kyle Matheson added his second of the day when he rumbled over for the go ahead score.

The extra point attempt was unsuccessful. Rams dug deep and tried to regain the lead but the clock was against them. Hawks next game is away to Glasgow Tigers on Sunday 2nd July.

Hawks would like to thank everyone who helped at Sunday’s game.
