Tigers
Host 3 Way Friendly
On Sunday the 13th
of March the Tigers looked to build on their impressive victory over the
Panthers the week before. This time it was the Tigers’ turn to play
host to the Paisley side who were joined by another travelling side, the
Inverclyde Raiders.
Raiders vs. Panthers
The first match-up
of the day saw the Panthers taking on the Raiders. It was important for
the new Paisley side to make a good start in what was always going to
be a tough match.
Unfortunately they
stalled on their first drive and possession was handed over to the Raiders
who immediately looked to impose their selves with some aggressive running.
It took only two plays
for them to put the ball in the end zone which was quickly followed up
with a successful two point conversion to give them an early 8-0 lead.
Paisley came out looking
to close the gap and looked to the passing game to get the points.
Unfortunately a wayward
snap saw and some quick reactions from the Raiders’ defence saw
them increase their lead as they recovered the ball for a touchdown.
Their next drive didn’t
fair any better when on second down a hopeful pass from the quarterback
was intercepted and returned for the touchdown.
When the Raiders returned
to the offensive side of the ball, with a twenty point lead, it was up
to the Paisley defence to keep them in the game.
It looked like they
might rise to the occasion, playing some sound defence and forcing Inverclyde
into a long 4th down situation.
It wasn’t to
be however when the Raiders converted and some excellent running after
the catch set them up in prime scoring position.
One play later the
Raiders found themselves in the end zone again due to an excellent pass
and catch. The Raiders went into the half with a comfortable lead 26-0.
The Raiders started
the second half with the ball and looked to increase their lead but it
wasn’t to be.
The Panthers managed
to prevent the first down for the first time in the game and got the ball
back for their offence.
This time excellent
pressure from the Raiders’ defence on third down hurried the quarterback
and he was once again picked off with the play resulting in a TD for the
Raiders.
The Raiders continued
to dominate for the remainder of the game and at full time had earned
a resounding 40-0 victory.
