KNIGHTS PUT CLANSMEN TO THE SWORD

Edinburgh Napier Knights 33 at Stirling Clansmen 6
An away trip to Stirling proved doubly rewarding for
the Edinburgh Napier Knights as fixture congestion meant a ‘double
header’ game resulted in 2 wins from a 33-6 win.
The 1st quarter saw backup Quarterback
Carl Taggart score on a sneak play to put the Knights up 6
to zero.
The Knights held a short handed but speedy Stirling
team for the rest of the half before Great Britain Lion and Knights
captain Jamie Charles record a safety on a quarterback sack for an 8-0
half time lead.
A fired up Stirling Clansmen team came out passing in
the 3rd quarter but Safety Domink Weist snared an interception to record
his 4th Touchdown of the year. The extra point from Euan Rennie put
Napier 15-0 up.
From the kickoff a deep kick return by Stirling was
fumbled and recovered into the arms of Stirling’s Zake Muluzi and
advanced for a quick Touchdown response to put the Clansmen back into
the game at 15-6.

Just as Stirling came back into the contest a fumble
in the end zone was recovered by Heval Omari to re-establish the Knights
grip on the game. The extra point from Rennie increased Napiers lead to
22-6.
The Knights offensive play gradually began to wear on
a tired Stirling defence and Quarterback Rennie tossed a 16 yard pass to
Weist, doubling as Tight End, for the go ahead touchdown.
A 2 point conversion from
Jamie) Welsh put the Knights ahead 30 to 6.
As the 4th quarter wound down Rennie added an 18 yard
field goal that meant the Knights recorded a ‘double’ win putting them
at 4 wins and 3 losses for the season and within 1 game of the BUAFL
playoffs.
The Knights now face the Teeside Demons in a
re-arranged fixture, 1pm at the Jack Kane Centre Edinburgh on the 6th of
March.
