TIGERS TRIUMPH IN EAST V WEST CLASH

13.2.11
Glasgow University Tigers 28 Edinburgh Napier Knights
13 (at the Jack Kane Centre, Edinburgh)
A brave effort from the Edinburgh Napier Knights
ultimately came up short losing 28 to 13 against last season’s National
semi-finalists the Glasgow Tigers.
An early Touchdown pass from
the Tigers to Dave Mann on their opening drive was quickly offset by 2
TD passes from QB Euan Rennie to Dominck Weist and Johnathan Leslie. A
single extra point conversion from Rennie gave the Knights a 13-6 lead
just before the half but a quick response from Glasgow with only 1
minute 40 remaining a 2nd reception to Mann from QB Gregor
Beattie saw them take a lead of 14-13, into the break.
A long
opening drive during the start of the 3rd quarter, which saw Glasgow
convert two 4th down conversions, stretched the away teams lead to 20-13
from a TD run by Lewis King. The response by Napier came up short on the
Glasgow 10 and a final TD drive by the Tigers, with Beattie throwing his
3rd score of the day with a 2PAT by Chaz Stockwell, capped a
come from behind win against a spirited Knights display.
The Knights now drop to 2-3 on the season with 3
games remaining. Their next fixture is on the 20th of
February at the Jack Kane Centre, Craigmillar against the Teeside
Cougars
