A NEW BREED IS BORN
LANARKSHIRE LONGHORNS

For years, they were fierce rivals, but Clyde Valley Hawks and Glasgow Tigers have combined their resources to create a new youth gridiron force in Lanarkshire

Due to changes in the league set up neither squad were able to field a team in the British Youth League last season, but the coaching staff of both outfits worked tirelessly in the background to give the junior players from both established programmes an opportunity to continue their playing career.

Coach Clee said "We are delighted to be able to give the players from both the Falcons and Tigers (Junior teams ) the opportunity to play at youth level."

" Bringing the squads together means that we are maximising both the playing talent and the coaching expertise in the area.

The first session at Beltane park, Wishaw was a great success and if we can hopefully continue to build from there."

In atrocious weather the coaching staff were please to see nearly 30 players turned out for training.

At the next session at Cambuslang the Longhorns had 36 players turn out and go through their paces

Coach MacMillan said "The team are looking forward to participating in the upcoming league season and with the with commitment from these players and some further recruitment we would be optimistic for the forthcoming season."

There are two more training sessions planned one at Wishaw sports centre  on Sunday the 29th November at 11am sharp till 1 and another at Cambuslang in a fortnights time  the 13th December at 11am.

These sessions are open to all players with or without playing experience .

The American football game gives all types of shapes and sizes an oportunity to play from small and fast to big and strong . It takes all types to make a team
