BIDS FOR VIRTUAL SUPERBOWL GLORY
AND FAILING
How
many gridiron fans have sat in the stands seeing their team getting
their proverbial butts kicked out on the field and feel that they
could do a lot better?
Now
thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you can start your own
team from scratch and pit your wits against the big boys in EA Sports
Madden NFL 2002.
Last
year’s offering saw NFL Europe sides competing against NFL clubs
for the first time in this action packed computer game that takes
your right the way through to a possible shot at the Super Bowl.
Now
Madden NFL 2002 takes the virtual gridiron action one stage further
with the kind of coverage you would expect to see during a televised
game.
Included
in the new additions are an enhanced new graphics set up along with
real time special effects, time of day changes and the chain gang.
As
well as the NFL clubs, Madden NFL 2002 also includes the latest
NFL Franchise, the Houston Texans, all six NFL Europe teams and
for the first time, the chance to create your own team, design their
uniforms, create logos, pick your play book as well as create your
own player’s stats.
(Wendy
is working furiously on that one as we speak!)
So
far Hot Iron Hornets have just had their butts kicked by Pittsburgh
Steelers, any offers for a decent QB?
Like
last years model, Madden NFL 2002 also offers fans to test their
skills on line and play a franchise against Madden fans around the
world.
If
you are not interested in forming your own team, then you can take
over the controls of the side of your choice and see if you can
take them further than the real life version during their own season.
And
for Scott Couper, it gives him one last hurrah before he hangs up
his cleats in the virtual gridiron world, but don’t expect any improvements
on his infamous touchdown dances.
As
last year, the makers are sticklers for detail when it comes to
including familiar names in their respective teams, but Claymores
fans will notice a few differences to the virtual team, compared
to the one that struggled through this season.
Rob
Hart has both shoes on, Clint Stoerner has the wrong shirt number,
there is no Brad Costello and Eric Whitfield is white.
But
I am just being picky. When
I first loaded up the game, there was one thing that the makers
got spot on when it comes to the Claymores.
Every time I got Clint to unleash a pass, nine times out
of ten saw the ball finish in the hands of Jim Whalen.
Then
I discovered that there were other buttons that I could press.
(Silly me!)
One
of the complaints about America Football that it is too complicated,
but when you look at it, it is not as difficult as you may think.
Madden
NFL 2002 not only takes you further into the world of the NFL but
it is the best tool available to sports fans to learn on how the
game works.
And
with an update facility on Madden NFL 2002 there is certainly plenty
to keep you occupied during the next twelve months.
