The Clyde
Valley Falcons swooped to success at the Paisley Panthers Junior kitted
tournament in Paisley .
On Sunday the 14th
it was the turn of the Falcons to come of age as after two tournaments
they were sitting third behind Inveness and Glasgow A .
Coach Gillespie and Macmillan had put in a lot of work with the team this
week to try to get the boys to believe in themselves and it worked.
The Falcons had Inverness
A and Tigers B in their division .
In the first game
the Falcons started in defence and got a break immediately with a fumble
recovery on Invernesses 3 yard line QB Winters linked with Centre Morton
to score the opening TD .
This lifted the boys
and with some ferocious tackling from Richard and Chriss the defence held
Inverness to 6 points in the first half whilst scoring 22 themselves .
The second half saw
Falcons run the clock down yet still scoring a TD but gave up two to run
out 28 v 22 winners .
After an hour wait
it was the turn of Glasgow B to face the much improved Falcons .The Falcons
had to replace winter at QB with Harrison due to a neck injury .Harrison
stepped in and took control .
Sharp ,Matthison and
McCrum all ran in Tds but one of the best was when young Winter got the
ball and ran the full length of the field behind some fantastic down field
blocks.The score was a resounding victory (46 v 6 ) to the Falcons .
This put the Falcons
into the Play Offs for first place against the league leaders the Tigers
A team .This time the Falcons won the toss and chose to take the ball
With power running from Matthieson the Falcons took the lead .
The defence stepped
up a notch after a rallying talk from Coach Gillespie and played hard
man ball .
Both Coaches had stated
at the end of the game that the hitting had been first class from both
teams with Chriss McCrum for the Falcons and Andrew Burns for the Tigers
putting in hits that belonged in the NFLs greatest hit s video.
It seemed that the
Falcons wanted it more on the day and took away the Tigers unbeaten record
winning in the end by 30 v 22 .
At the presentation
at the end the Falcons lifted two MVP awards for Darren Sharp and Mark
Winter. The biggest cheer came from the Falcons when Chriss McCrum lifted
the tournament winners trophy at the end .
The day was a resounding
success as over 70 Boys and GIRLS took part as well as a cheer leading
squad from Inverness .
The Falcons would
like to thank Paisley for their hospitality.
