FLIGHT OF THE
PHOENIX PT 2
Senior
kitted football in the north of Scotland took one step forward and one
step back this week when Northern Phoenix scored their first points in
their existence and with it came their first win over local Rivals Fort
William Phoenix.
However the Northern
Phoenix received some bad news as their head coach decided to call it
a day and step down.
Fort William Phoenix
were first to score and quickly added to their tally to give them a 12
- 0 lead.
The Northern Phoenix
were finally given their first ever TD when David Kerr found himself on
the end of a 30 yard Chris Clarke pass. The Northern Phoenix defence then
stepped up and stopped Fort William offence.
Northern Phoenix tied
the scoring and with less than 2 minutes left in the first half Fort William
re-took the lead 20 points to 12.
The second half opened
with Inverness fighting back to make it 20 all. Fort William again took
the lead and with time fast running out QB Chris Clarke for the Northern
Phoenix ran in to once again tie the scores.
It was again Chris
Clarke who added the extra points running the ball in and giving the Northern
Phoenix their first win. MVP for the game went to Chris Clarke of the
Northern Phoenix.
Final score Fort William
Phoenix 26 Northern Phoenix 28.
