Pirates
youth pin hopes on RBS award
The East Kilbride Pirates youth squad are in the
running for a £6,000 RBS award, and are looking to the local community
for support to make it happen.
The Pirates Youth team have entered themselves for RBS CommunityForce, a scheme where charities and community projects and organisations in Scotland can apply to win funding.
The Pirates are competing against 30 other projects
in the East Kilbride and Rutherglen West area, and the three projects
voted top will each stand to win. The young Pirates need to make sure
they meet that target to ensure the cash boost comes their way.
“£6,000 is hugely important to us,” commented Pirates Chairman Amanda McDonald. “This would guarantee the future of the youth team for years to come. As well as allowing us to get new training equipment, game shirts and pay for running costs, we’ll be able to buy more sets of kit to meet our goal of helping even more 14-17 year olds in the area take part in American Football, regardless of financial background.
It’s all down to votes now, but it only takes a couple of minutes and costs nothing. Please visit the CommunityForce website, click on the link and show your support for the Pirates youth team so that we can grow the team in East Kilbride and give kids in the area the chance to play the sport we love.
The Pirates senior team have just become British
Champions – who knows, with the support of the people of East Kilbride,
our youth team could be the champions of the future.”
Voting is open from now until 23 October. To
show your support visit

register and then search for the East Kilbride Pirates Youth project
page to vote. |
