POP WARNER: FALCONS SOAR
ON UNDEFEATED
Clyde Valley Falcons 53
Bannerman High Wildcats 0
After their break week Falcons returned to the field
with a win. Falcon’s Blake Kyle received the ball from kick-off
and raced up field to give CV excellent field position.
William Winter then carried the ball on a reverse
for the first TD of the afternoon.
The Wildcats were unfortunate on the next play when
the kick returner was forced to fumble the ball by MVP Mark Liddell;
this was picked up by Falcon’s Blake Kyle. CV capitalised
on the mistake when Frazer Anderson took the pitch and rumbled 5
yards to the endzone.
Greg Conroy scored the extra point. Bannerman didn’t
fare much better on their next drive.
Scott ‘The Machine’ Findlay forced the
Wildcats to start from their own 10 yard line, unable to make any
progress they were forced to punt.
The luckless Wildcats’ snap was too high and
it sailed over the head of the punter for a safety and another 2
points for the Falcons.
At the start of the 2nd quarter CV had great success
with the ‘starburst’ play, when Alan Harrison broke
loose and carried the ball for Falcon’s next TD.
To Bannerman’s credit they did not give up
and they tried to get their running game going behind the power
of John Reilly.
It was Reilly again who was unlucky not to catch
the pass which forced Wildcats to punt.
Reilly was fast becoming Bannerman’s player
of the game when he sacked Falcon’s QB David Orr on the next
drive.

However on the very next play Frazer Anderson ran
55 yards upfield for the Falcon’s next TD.
The 2nd half began as the 1st ended when Colin Nicol
returned a Wildcats punt 30 yards for a TD. Graeme MacMillan soon
added another for the Falcons when he took the reverse had off and
barrelled 15 yards for the TD.
Bannerman’s John Reilly demonstrated his versatility
when he recovered a fumble on Falcon’s 18 yard line.
Reilly then caught a pass from QB Stuart Crichton,
and struggled his way to the one yard line. Falcon’s Ross
Ivison broke through Bannerman’s o-line to stop the ball carrier
on the 8 yard line.
All Wildcats tried to reach the endzone on 4th down
the Falcon’s defence held strong. Falcon’s QB David
Orr passed the ball from his own endzone into the waiting hands
of Greg Conroy who raced 60 yards for another TD.
Falcon’s powerful defence forced the Wildcats
to play from their own 1 yard line. CV took full advantage of this
when John Minto intercepted a wayward Wildcats pass and went on
a tackle breaking run for the Falcons final TD of the day.
