WARNER CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL PT 2

There was no
change in the scoring into the final quarter but still plenty to
play for.
And the momentum
appeared to be moving in the Falcons direction thanks to a series
of impressive runs from Anderson, taking the ball to the Rams 6
yard line.
Then minutes
later, a well executed reverse move threw the Rams defense off guard,
with William Minter sprinting over the goal line to put Clyde Valley
4 points in front, which was extended to 6 following a successful
conversion from John Minto.
Instead of consolidating
their lead, Clyde Valley soon found them selves in trouble at their
25 yard line, when Graham Aitkin found a gap for a ten yard run
into the end zone, to put the Rams back in front, with Giannandrea
adding the two point conversion.
The Falcons
responded in style when David Orr fired a 30 yard precision pass
to Minter for his second touchdown of the day.
As the Clyde
Valley supporters turned up the volume on the sidle lines, it looked
as if the Falcons were going to claim the title, but they were silenced
when McTague hooked up with his go to receiver, Giannandrea for
another touchdown pass with 30 seconds of regular time remaining.
But
the Rams blew the chance of clinching the game in regular time,
when Giannandrea failed to nail the extra point conversion, setting
the scene for a sudden death finale.
The Falcons
were struggling to make any impression on their first drive in over
time and were soon gambling on a long fourth down attempt and surprisingly
handed the ball of to Conroy where his run was stopped short of
the first down marker.
The Rams
then manage to eradicate the memory of their failed last gasp winning
kick in regulation time on the next drive with a completion to McCoy
who avoided to two challenges to run into the end zone and send
the Rams contingent delirious.
“It
was a fantastic game with end to end stuff.” Said a disappointed
Falcons Head Coach, Colin MacMillan
“At
the end of the day, we were a we bit unfortunate, but the other
team played really well.”
