But Cally made no mistake on the next play when the Pyros
were exposed again with another screen pass from Choat, with Ross Graham
running the ball in for another six points for the men in blue.
The momentum then swung dramatically in favour of the
home side on the resulting kick off, when Quarterback, Ben Alkureishi
managed to shake off some poor talking to pull of a great return all the
way over the goal line for a welcome six points for the Pyros, which was
followed with a successful two point conversion catch from Tal Peer to
bring the deficit to just four points.
The Roughriders now had a game on their hands as the Pyros
were starting to play with more confidence and regained the momentum when
Cally’s next drive stalled when Jay Mitchell got in front of a Choat
pass.
Unfortunately the Pyros failed to take advantage of the
turnover and were soon on the defensive again.
And they still had not learned the lessons from the previous
scores when Cally hit them with another screen pass again, with Graham
running his second touchdown of the day.
The Pyros offensive machine was starting to get in gear
when a scramble by Alkureishi took the home side into the Roughriders
redzone.
Then
Euan Shearer punished a defensive lapse by the visitors, blasting through
into the endzone, but the touchdown was chalked off for a penalty on the
home side.
It was therefore a case of same again for the Pyros rusher
on the next play as he burned the turf again, only this time the touchdown
counted.
