ANOTHER BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE FOR THE PYROS

Paisley Pyros 0 Stirling Clansmen 58
British University American Football League
Borders Conference
Dateline Feb 12th 2012
Stirling Clansmen kept themselves in the hunt for the
BUAFL Borders Conference title, returning from their winter break with a
resounding 58-0 win on the road
against the Paisley Pyros.
Despite the Pyros having home advantage, the Clansmen
came into the game as clear favourite, with a much bigger squad and
having dropped just one game this season, conceding just over 30 points
in 5 matches.
And it was not long before the visitors stamped their
authority in what was their opening drive of the game, when a fake
reverse move cleared the way fro quarterback Cam McDonald to sprint
through for the opening six points.
The Pyros did not appear to pick up on the early wake
up call as they continued to be caught off balance by the same move that
resulted in the opening score.
And the move appeared to pay dividends late in the
first quarter when McDonald turned on the speed again shrugging off two
challenges for his second touchdown.

And the Clansmen QB followed that up with a
successful 2 point dive into the endzone, making it 14-0 in favour of
the visitors.
The Pyros made not impression on their opening drive
of the second and soon found themselves in trouble again when the
Clansmen decided to test the home defense on a fourth down conversion
when McDonald lobbed the ball to Grant Fraser for a 27 yard touchdown
pass.
The Clansmen QB reverted to the tried and trusted
fake hand off move adding another 2 point conversion
With the Pyros having been on the receiving end of a
90-0 hammering earlier in the campaign, this was looking to be another
day at the office they would want to forget.
However they continued battle hard, hoping to take the shine out
of the Clansmen’s attack. Which
was turning into a near impossible task
The rout continued when Matthew Barrington got his
name on the score stats, meeting with little resistance as he ran in
another touchdown from 5 yards out, with McDonald once again adding
another successful 2 point conversion.
However the punishment continued when the Clansmen’s
trigger man added another
rushing touchdown and
then set up receiver Chris Crum for another score with Stuart Bicker
nailing the conversion attempt.
Going to the final quarter there was no evidence that
Pyros were going to put any points on the board, whereas Stirling
had plenty more in their locker, with back up quarter back Luis
Stephenson rushing for another touchdown.

And the Pyros misery was complete when Tony McDowall
dived over for the final touchdown of the day , leaving Stephenson to
round things off with another successful
2 point conversion PAT
