North Lanarkshire Rams 0 – Clyde Valley Hawks 12

Once again Hawks were on the road for the second game of the season. They travelled to Cumbernauld to take on North Lanarkshire Rams.

Both teams were slowly to start but on Hawks 2nd drive QB David Orr completed a 15 yard pass to WR Andrew Scott only for the WR to come down out the back of the endzone.

The Rams then recovered a fumble and behind some powerful running from #44 marched steady upfield. The drive stalled when QB #80 kept the ball but he was stopped by some fierce tackling by CV’s Scott Findlay and Colin Nichol.

The 2nd quarter failed to ignite either team with both defences not allowing any real progress.

In the 3rd quarter Hawks came to life when David McGrath blocked a Rams punt which was recovered by Kris Henderson.

Showing his versatility Kris Henderson hooked up on a pass from QB Darren Brownlie. Scott Findlay capped the drive when he scampered in from 8 yards out.

The extra point attempt was unsuccessful. Blake Kyle, Stephen Dolan and David McGrath combined to stop the Rams in the backfield.

Once again the Rams punt was blocked this time by Blake Kyle and recovered by Darren Brownlie.

Hawks QB Darren Harvey then pitched the ball to Ryan McCabe who when on a stunning 45 yard run for the TD. Rams prevented the extra point being scored as the rushed through the line to down the QB.

At the beginning of the 4th quarter Colin Nichol intercepted a wayward Rams pass, who by now were struggling through injury to key players, however Hawks were unable to capitalise.

Further pressure was put on the Rams when Karl McCran sacked the QB but Rams came straight back with a completed pass to #1 for a 15 yard gain.

Colin Nichol intercepted his second of the day in the endzone to dampen any hope the Rams had. The Rams fought valiantly to the final whistle.
