CLANSMEN RIDE ROUGHSHOD OVER ROUGHRIDERS.
(Now say that three times real fast)

Caledonian Roughriders

Stirling Clansmen completed their first double
whammy of the season, demolishing BCAFL rookies, the Caledonian
Roughriders at Springburn Astro Turf.
Even though the big talking point was the
surprise return of Runningback and Head Coach, John Sutherland who
ran in two touchdowns, it was Peder Engebretsen that earned the
plaudits, linking up with Quarterback, James Thompson for three
touchdown catches
After losing their two year unbeaten record
last week against Lancaster, the Clansmen were looking to get back
to their winning ways against the Roughriders, who have yet to record
a win their season and have already fallen foul to the Clansmen
the week before.
However having taken an enforced break last
week following the postponement of last week’s game against
Newcastle, the Roughriders were confident of catching the Clansmen
off guard, who were looking to fill a gap in the backfields following
the surprise departure of Runningback, Matt Westwater, who destroyed
the Roughriders during their last meeting, scoring 28 points.
Therefore
it was expected that the game plan for Stirling was going to centre
on their passing game and a busy afternoon for Quarterback, James
Thompson.
But the reigning UK Champions
had to make adjustments to their game plan, for the better with
the welcome return of player coach, John Sutherland, who pulled
his pads on for the first time since spending three weeks in hospital
through illness. (Story to follow)
And it was not long until he made his presence
felt after the first drive of the game when the ball was punted
deep into the Caley half, where Sutherland forced a fumble which
he recovered at their 7 yard line.
