It’s safe to say that not all good music is found in the charts.
This point was clarified 110% by a documentary shown last night (16th march) which profiled a singer who made her name in the hit television series" Opportunity Knocks”
I have been a fan of this honest and likeable lady. Since I was bowled over by her performance of New York New York on “Op Knocks” way back then and even to this day, her voice still sends shivers up my spine every time I hear it.
I felt an element of sadness here watching this excellent offering from the LBS.
I felt sad because the current album charts are choc- a- bloc with this kind of music that Brenda excels in yet the record company bosses are more concerned with image than talent.
If you are a fan of Katie Melua or Norah Jones then you would have been bowled over with what was heard on this programme.
Its a fair point that people in the media and music business try and corrupt the consumers mind with what is good to listen to, who looks good and all that kind of nonsense.
They would tell you that is called business. I maintain its called good marketing and not being able to recognise talent.
This is why people like them are slightly miffed that the current album charts are full of the kind of music that the programme showcased, ie good songs will sung, talent will always prevail whether you look like million dollars or not.
As a person Ms cochrane has had her ups and down professionally and personally but as I said earlier this honest (some would say too honest) singer from Uddingston is back on the way up and I for one am so glad about that.
She is a terrific live performer.
Her albums are great. Her producer in the stage musical Chicago said she is a better singer than Dame Shirley Bassey
There is no way I’d disagree with that
The programme had a title ITS NOT OVER
I would add to that, IT’S NEVER WENT AWAY
CHECK HER OUT
SHE'S MAGIC!
