For the last two years, this newly formed act from the Inverclyde area of Scotland had been working really hard on their show which started from original beginnings as an acoustic concert party to a cabaret style show which delighted the 100 strong crowd that filled the Mid Kirk church in Greenock.

Earlier this year, this 5-piece band lost keyboard and guitarist David Eaves through work commitments and the current line up of Wendy Bruce. Mary Gisbey, Billy McGuire and Charlie McGroarty breezed through a show that literally had something for everyone.

The evening commenced with a witty introduction from the minister Alan Sorensen and then its was all systems go starting with the band’s tribute to Cliff Richard and from there on in the programme included songs ranging from Scots folksongs like Killecrankie to a unique rendition of Me and My shadow bringing together the jazz version running next to the old cockney version that everyone knows.

When you also add medleys by Bee Gees and Elvis as well as hits by Status Quo, Doris Day, Shirley Bassey, Ray Charles then to hits from the musical theatre e.g. Somewhere from West Side Story, you get a good idea of the versatility of just what exactly the Coasters are capable of on stage.

Their show really was a fun kind of show that would appeal to people who aren't afraid to wallow in nostalgia and can soon be heard on the Coasters forthcoming charity fundraising CD which will be available some time in June.

Even though they had many technical faults in the first half, they did not let that spoil an excellent evening of fun nostalgia and top class professional entertainment.

They are a hard working 4 piece act who have seen a market for this kind of show In fact, lady sitting next to me was heard to say "They area breath of fresh air”

Following their recent show, their CD is certain to attract plenty of local interest and that will doubt continue with future live performances.
