If you can remember the days of Saturday night variety shows on the telly, when the only famous satellite was Telstar and that a CD were the next pair of letters after A and B then this is the compilation for you.

This double set is based in the 1960’s but don’t waste your time looking for any Merseybeat, rhythm and blues and rock and roll here.

This is for the age group that remembers good songs well sung without being told to “turn that noise down!!!!!”

The record company deserves a big pat on the back because there are 60 tracks on this album ranging from Max Bygraves to The Seekers via Des O’Connor, Cliff Richard and to use the old phrase many many more.

Now it would be crazy of me to even suggest that every track of this is an absolute gem but when did sanity ever get anybody anywhere in music.

Disc one brings you comedy acts like Morecambe and Wise bringing you sunshine as you remember the classic Xmas shows of theirs.

Even further back, you people like Max telling you a story about the pink toothbrush, moving on from to there people like Perry Como, Mel Torme, Michael Holliday (great song) onto the where are they now section.

Eve Boswell was picking a chicken, the Four Preps were stating they were Big Men but boy you ought to see them now, and I think you should hear them and everyone else on here again and again

Disc two has Frankie Laine, Matt Monroe, Englebert, Anita Harris and Sinatra going down memory lane.

Who remembers names like Al Martino going on about those Spanish eyes, Malcolm Roberts being ultra smooth asking his lady for the next dream.

This is the best various artists’ compilation I have heard in years
If there are any youngsters there who think oh I wont know any thing off here...well this is where you find Unchained Melody was not first made famous by Robson and Jerome and contrary to popular belief, the male half of Des and Mel can really sing and is not pretending.

If like me, in the 60s you owned a dansette (record player) where you put six 45’s or 33’s (ask your parents what they were if you don't know)
and you wanted to play music that everyone could listen to this is the album for you - don’t knock it, because there could be many cover versions taken from this album

The best thing about nostalgia is that it never goes away just gets re-released and I for one will be eternally glad
