TIGERS WIN IN LIVERPOOL

GLASGOW TIGERS 46 MERSEYSIDE NIGHTHAWKS 16

GAME REPORT 04/07/04

The Glasgow Tigers won for the second week in a row and Quarterback Matt McCusker had an outstanding game as he threw for 5 touchdown passes and 3 extra point conversions.

In the first quarter the Tigers took control of the game on their 2nd drive with a 35 yard pass completion from McCusker to Rob Campbell who scampered into the endzone.

The 2 point conversion was zipped into the hands of Tight End Johnny Smith by McCusker to make it 8-0 to the visitors.

Throughout the first half the Tigers had the better field position and some good defensive plays kept Merseyside’s Offense quiet.

Another TD from Graeme Clee, who ran the ball in from 18 yards out, increased the Glasgow teams lead to 14-0 after the Nighthawk Defence stopped the 2 point pass to Barry Patterson.

In the 2nd quarter McCusker found Dan Seltzer with a 16 yard pass and then he found receiver Rob Campbell to make it 22-0 at the half.

The Merseyside team never gave up during this game but their hearts must have sunk when they saw McCusker find Rob Campbell once again, this time from 18 yards out for another Touchdown.

This time Graeme Clee bulldozed in for the conversion and a 30-0 lead to the Tigers. All credit to The Nighthawks, as they rallied behind the solid running of Nathan Hazel and ended with a 6 yard run from Barry Murphy to get them on the board.

Then Merseyside QB Andrew Ley completed the 2 point conversion to Oliver O’Malley to make it 30-8.

This sparked an excellent 4th quarter and the Glasgow team scored again with a McCusker bomb to Dan Seltzer (65yards) for another touchdown.

A two point run by Barry Patterson made it 38-8 to the Tigers but the Nighthawks were not finished and on the next drive Nathan Hazel ran in from 5 yards and then also scored on the 2 point conversion to make it 38-16.

A 24 yard kick off return by Rob Campbell gave the Tigers a short field and for his fifth touchdown of the day McCusker found Bob Kalman from 5 yards out. The final score of the game was the 2 point conversion pass from McCusker to Martin Galloway to make it 46-16.

This result puts the Tigers at 2-2-2 with the Nighthawks dropping to 2-4.
