TIGERS ANNOUNCE LOSS OF COACH

BYAFA runners-up, The Glasgow Tigers, have announced the departure of defensive co-ordinator Jim Burns after 2 years in the position.

Burns took over a struggling Tigers defense and led them to improve into one of the toughest in the league.

“Leaving a club you have been involved with is never easy” he said “but there comes a time to make the difficult decisions based on your own needs and enjoyment. I have reached the point where I feel that the club and I aren’t likely to progress any further together and I don’t want to stay around just for the sake of it. I think I've done a pretty good job but we could have been better."

" I’d like to thank the players for their efforts over the last few years and wish them well in the coming season. Hopefully I’ll be there to watch a few of their games”

A Tigers spokesman commented “Jimmy has done a great job for us as the lone defensive coach and we didn’t want him to leave, particularly at this stage of season preparation."

" He has outlined his reasons for doing so and while I don’t agree with them all, I understand where he is coming from."

"We part company on good terms and wish him well in any future position. He has been installing the new defense and we are confident the players are in a good position to rise to this new challenge.”
