Tigers
Roar against Dundee!!!!

A
late touchdown from former Scottish Claymore, Jason Byworth, gave
the Tigers a much valued come from behind win over Dundee Hurricanes.
The
Tigers were looking to capitalise on their home advantage and record
their first back to back win of the campaign, where as the Taysiders
were looking to make it four wins out of four for the season and
were looking to build on their recent 42 point white wash of fellow
BSL rookies, Edinburgh Wolves.
And
after cancelling out the Tigers on the first drive of the game,
the visitors fired a perfect reply after a couple of plays.
Quarterback Bruce Thomson from deep within Dundee territory fired
a long ball into the air and looked as if it was heading for an
interception, but was grabbed by receiver, Grant McClellan
just inside the Tigers half, taking the ball the rest of the field
for the opening six points.
The
Tigers were starting to find some form and were soon starting
to make some good progress up field, with Bob Kalman making
some impressive runs up the middle but were struggling to kill the
drive off in the end zone.
The
Tigers then came close to tying the scoring when Matt McCusker sent
a sure fire touchdown pass in the corner of the endzone to Graham
Porterfield but the slipped through his fingers.
But
the bulk and power of the Tigers started to take their toll on the
visitors when Kalman took the ball to just two yards short of the
goal line.
And
with everyone expecting the same on the next play, they ran a fake
move for Paul Keys to bring the ball in for the equalising touchdown.
The problems continued to for the Hurricanes when Thomson was intercepted
by Graham Whyte.
But
the visiting defense stepped up the pace on the Tigers and forced
them to punt the ball away.
The
momentum swung dramatically back in Dundee's favour when the punt
was blocked by James Cunningham, who took the ball over the goal
line to put his side back infront.
Whyte
intercepted Thomson for the second time inside the final minutes
of the half but the tables were soon turned on the Tigers two plays
later, when McCusker was intercepted by Fraser Thomson to ensure
that the Tigers held on to their six point lead at half time.
Both
teams continued to cancelled out during an uneventful third quarter,
but the game soon came back to life in the fourth after Dundee punted
the ball away, the Tigers were back on the march up field, Anthony
Kilanowski finishing off the drive, bulldozing his way through the
Hurricanes defensive wall for a tying score.
It
continued to be a closely contested final quarter until the final
minutes, when the defense produced a crucial sack on the Dundee
Quarterback who fumbled the ball in the process and was recovered
by Lineman, Derek "The Respirator" Ward taking the ball five yards
up field to the Dundee seven yard line.
On
the next play, McCusker laid the ball out to Byworth, who showed
his experience, by shaking off a couple of challenges to take the
ball into the endzone.
And
with just over two minutes remaining, the game was put beyond doubt
when Kalman
ran in a successful two point conversion.
