STORM FORCE HURRICANES PT 2
The Tigers tried to step things up on the resulting kick off thanks to a good return by Graeme Clee. Unfortunately the Tigers offense stalled again when McLaughlin’s long pass was easily picked off by Craig Dundee once again punished the Tigers for the turnover when Smith sent a pass across to Thompson, who calmly slipped past his markers, taking the ball all the way to the endzone, with Craig once again adding the conversion attempt for a 27-0 lead. The rout continued when Smith picked off Bruce Thomson for another touchdown, with Craig splitting the uprights again for the visitors. The Tigers headaches continued at the start of the second half, when Thompson turned on the speed at the opening kick off, sprinting through the middle of the helpless Tigers wall to make it 40-0 for the visitors. Penalties were starting to hamper Dundee as they showed not let up in their work rate and in their determination to add to their impressive tally. With the game now out of their reach, the Tigers were desperately trying to inject a much needed spark into their deflated offense and try to regain some respectability to the score line. And their prayers were answered courtesy of Ian “Sparky” Dick who showed the Dundee rear guard a clean pair of heels sprinting 63 yards upfield.
Then on the next play, the former star rusher from last year’s Tigers Youth squad nipped in for a well deserved opening six points. Their joy was short lived, when Thompson tore the home defense apart, sprinting across both sides of the field before finally heading up field to make it 46-6, with Craig once again adding the conversion attempt. Then at the start of the third quarter, Glasgow’s misery was complete when Smith sneaked in again to make it 53-6 final score.
However after today’s
result the Tigers have chance to reverse the result when the Hurricanes
return to Cambuslang Rugby Club in three weeks time. |
