DEMOLITION DOOMA

Glasgow Tigers 14 Dundee Hurricanes 61

A league MVP performance from Mahamadou 'Dooma' Niakate saw Dundee Hurricanes maintain their 100% record in style, with a resounding 47 point victory over the Glasgow Tigers at Cambuslang Rugby Club

With the pitch feeling the after effects from heavy rain during the night, it did not set the scene for an active running game.

But that did not effect Dooma, who made his mark two plays into the game, sprinting 45 yards for the opening touchdown, from which he also nailed a successful conversion kick to give the visitors an early lead.

The Tigers, without one of their key offensive weapons, Iain Dick, could not make any headway on their first offensive series.

And they soon found themselves in further trouble after another powerful upfield which ended with Dooma adding another six points on the ground and once again splitting the uprights for the conversion kick.

The Tigers day continued to get from bad to worse after another ineffective drive when Dooma turned it on again, breaking a number of challenges for a 65 yard score, earning him 208 yards rushing yards- and we were still in the first quarter.

And with plenty of the game remaining, was still on course for possible breaking the 2000 yards target for the season.

Quarterback Bruce Thompson decided to keep the ball himself to run in the extra point and by now the game appeared to be heading out of the Tigers reach.

As the Tigers continued to struggle on offense, Dundee turned up the pressure with Dooma breaking free again for another touchdown run, this time from 51 yards out along with another successful PAT kick.

And with the score at 29-0 at the end of the first quarter, it was difficult to see how the Tigers could get back into this game.

The Dundee rusher got some respite from adding to the score sheet when Bruce Thompson on a long third down, picked of Mike Evans at the far corner to give the visitors 35 unanswered points.

The Tigers were now fighting for their pride, but the rout continued when Thompson before be he was brought to the ground, managed to dump the ball off to Ryan Crichton, who ran in another touchdown, which was followed by another successful Dooma conversion.

The scoring continued early in the third quarter when Thompson scrambled through a mass of bodies into the endzone to make it 48-0 for Dundee .

The Tigers misery continued when the Tayside QB found a gap in the Tigers rear guard, picking off Evans for his second score of the day, from which Dooma added another extra point conversion.

But instead of giving up the ghost, the never say dies attitude of the Tigers came to the fore when they finally broke their duck after a fourth down gamble which saw Graeme Clee showing great determination, breaking free for a 40 yard touchdown run.

The Hurricanes increased their lead when Head Coach, Alec Brown turned on the speed all the way to the endzone to make it 61-6 for the visitors.

But the final word went to the Tigers who caught the visitors off guard during the final two minutes, running in his second score of the day, with William McLauchlan adding the 2 point conversion.
