Cambuslang
Rugby Club was the scene for another hard hitting gridiron encounter
today (Sunday 21st Sept) as Inverclyde Sharks got some
sweet revenge against the Glasgow Tigers winning 30-6.
The
Sharks were in control for most of the game, which saw two touchdowns
for Darren Banks as well as a string of wounded soldiers amongst
the Tigers side including both of their quarterbacks in the second
half.
However
despite being under heavy pressure, the Glasgow
outfit still managed to finish the day with a consolation
score, when stand in triggerman, O Lineman,
Dean Jardine, picked off Derrick Russell in the fourth quarter
The
last match up between the two sides saw the Sharks fall victim to
the numbers game against Tigers who came through to record a comfortable
26-8 victory at Greenock.
And
with the Sharks having turned in an impressive defensive performance
during last week's defeat by the Clyde Valley Hawks, mood was high
in the Greenock camp that they could redress the balance and solidify
the third place spot in the BYAFA Scottish Conference.
Both
defenses set their stalls early on the opening drives, when the
Sharks almost got their first break when a muffed punt by Tigers
returner, James McIntosh saw the ball downed just inside the home
redzone.
The
Sharks defense stepped up the pressure and the home side were forced
to punt the ball away again.
However
on the first play of the next drive, the home side got the ball
back after just one play, when the Sharks gave up the first turnover
of the day.
