TIGERS OVERPOWER WILDCATS AND THE WEATHER
Glasgow Tigers 31 Highland Wildcats 0
Report C/O William Clark
With the high winds and sweeping rain you could easily have been mistaken that this game had taken place in the middle of winter and as such it was not a day for passing the ball , so the Glasgow Tigers set to work on the ground and used their strong power rushing which brought them another victory.
Led by quarterback Andrew Burns the Tigers first drive was halted ten yards from the goal line so up stepped Scott Watson who opened the scoring with a field goal and it was 3 -0 to the Tigers.
On the Glasgow sides next drive a 10 yard touchdown run from Kieran Phillips ( who had 12 carries for 88 yards) and a kick conversion from Scott Watson gave the Tigers a 10- 0 lead.
A 35 yard kick off return by James Pyke gave the Wildcats good field position , but Highland quarterback Kenny McKay was unable to lead his team to a score , as the Glasgow defence stepped up their game and held them to a failed field goal attempt.
This was a missed opportunity and a wake up call to the Tigers. In the second quarter Glasgow began a drive that ended with a passing touchdown from Tigers quarterback Burns to reciever Ally Choat from seventeen yards to make it 17 - 0 at halftime.

With both sides trading possession in the near monsoon conditions the third quarter was a stalemate with Tigers cornerback Nick Halfpenny getting an interception to stop the Wildcats best drive of the game.
As the fourth quarter progressed a Highland fumble was picked up and carried six yards by Jason Gillespie who was tackled just short of the goal line. The Tigers offence gave the ball to runningback Graeme Clee ( who amassed 15 carries for 108 yards ) who powered in from the five yard line for a touchdown.
As ther Northern visitors began to grow tired an errant Wildcats pass was picked off by Jason Gillespie and this time he ran it in for the final touchdown of the day. All of the extra points (4) were converted by Scott Watson for a final score of 31 - 0.
The Tigers now have a well earned break before they travel to Inverness to play the Wildcats again on the 2nd August.
