“WHO LOVES YA BABY”

GLASGOW TIGERS 27
EDINBURGH WOLVES 7

It was third time lucky for the Glasgow Tigers as they picked up their first win of the season in Edinburgh thanks to an excellent days work from William “KOJAK McLauchlan with 266 yards passing and 3 touchdown passes.

Both teams had shared a hard fought 6-6 tie last month and again it was the Tigers who started well with a 51 yard run from Ryan Hunter giving them the lead. William “Kojak” McLauchlan kicked the point after for a 7- 0 lead.

The Glasgow defence then kept the power running of the Wolves in check and increased their lead in the 2nd quarter when QB McLauchlan connected twice with Robert Campbell (Right) for touchdowns of 16 and 30 yards. McLauchlan added the kicks to leave the Tigers with a commanding 21-0 lead at the half.

The Wolves came out fighting in the second period and Martin Devlin just missed a 25 yard field goal in the 3rd quarter, after some good running by Dave Molloy.

Then Edinburgh made the most of a long 4th quarter drive when Michael McKenzie punched it in from the one yard line. Devlin added the kick to reduce the deficit to 21 – 7.

The Tigers responded when McLauchlan completed his 3rd touchdown pass of the game to Ryan Hunter, this time for 70 yards. A missed conversion ended the game at 27 – 7 to the Tigers.

Glasgow Head Coach Derek Taylor said “I’m delighted with this win and the way our players have responded from last weeks game. We needed a win today to keep in touch with the rest of our division and the players delivered.”

Meanwhile Edinburgh Head Coach Pete Laird must regroup his team for next weeks visit to the West Coast Trojans.
