With both teams out of the running for the British American
Football League Division Two Play Offs, pride was on the line for both
teams, aiming to put the memory of last weeks defeats behind then and
regain some momentum with two games of the regular season remaining.
It looked as if it was going to be a long afternoon when
both sides turned over possession on their opening drives.
But Edinburgh stepped up the pace on their next drive
after a power run from Campbell Lewis took the ball to midfield.
Then Quarterback Graham Tannahill went deep picking off
Lewis again, who was stopped inside the Tigers redzone.
From that distance, enter former Team Europe running back
Dave Molloy, who blasted through a gap in the Tigers rear guard for the
opening touchdown, with Martin Devlin adding the extra point conversion
for a 7-0 lead.
Early in the second quarter, Molloy’s opposite number,
Graeme Clee showed he was no slouch when it came to turning on the speed,
blasting through the hole for a 40 yard touchdown, which was converted
by William McLauchlan to tie the scoring.
The Tigers appeared to have the endzone in their sights
following an interception by Graham Whyte, who pulled off a terrific 50
yards return but the ball was brought back after a block in the back penalty.

Heavy pressure from the Wolves defense forced the Tigers
to punt away possession, but McLauchlan could not have written the script
any better, with the kick falling just short of the goal line, with Whyte
making doubly sure with a showboating dive bomb onto the ball.
But their was no further change in the scoreline until
the final thirty seconds of the half when McLauchlan fired a 30 yard to
completion to the Tigers utility man, Whyte, who got in front of his marker
for a terrific touchdown..
And when McLauchlan added another successful extra point,
the Wolves tried to push for one last drive in the dying seconds of the
half and had to settle for a long field goal attempt from Devlin, which
finished well short of the target.
