Trojans Trounce The TigersPics courtesy of imac images
It was hard to believe that in two years this was the first Trojans defensive shut out, time after time the D forced the Tigers O in to a 3 and out and also threw in 4 fumble recoveries and 1 int on the day. Aa special mention has to go to the starting rookie CB’s David “Disco” Campbell and Andrew O’Neill who in their first start of the day never gave up a completion. Also WR turned DE Alex Grosek who turned in a great performance. You could call it a game of two halves with backup QB Martin McKlintock taking control and using both RB’s Sutherland and Falconer put 44 points on the board. He was followed by the return of starting QB Gary McNey who threw for no fewer than 5 TD's in the 2nd half to add a further 40 points. The Trojans received that opening kick off and it was not long before they were knocking at the Tigers door. QB McKlintock took it upon himself to open the scoring
with 1 yard run behind center John Adams, Sutherland tagged on the PAT
The rest of the 1t & 2nd quarters were dominated by the running of Jon Sutherland 4 TD's and Jordan Falconer 2 TD's Who between them they would finish the day with a combined yardage of 476 yards and 6 TDs with 350 of these yards in the first two quarters. Their job was made easier by some excellent blocking by the Trojans OL and also from the WR., the only downside to the 1st half was the lack of converted PAT with only 1/6 being converted. The Trojans went into the break 44-0.
QB/HC Gary McNey took over the reigns in the 2nd half and on his first pass of the day hit American WR David Pasnik for the score, the same combination would work for a further 3 TD’s during the second half with two of them being converted RB Sutherland would also contribute a receiving TD to ad to his four scores on the day, all but 1 PAT was converted giving the Trojans a comfortable 84-0 win.
“This is an excellent win for the Trojans, and the offence showed how much a force the running and passing game is” “Credit to our OL for opening up the holes for the RB’s and giving the QB the time to pass the ball, they done a great job today” “Our Defence was again outstanding and I was most impressed with the way the rookies once again came in and done a great job”
