Does
not happen very often, but who is complaining.
And after an
ineffective opening Wolves drive, the Trojans soon found themselves
in excellent field position and were soon on fire, when Gary McNey
picked off Alan Street.
Then on the
next play Jordan Falconer sped down the far side, shaking off two
challenges for the opening six points.
On the next
Trojans drive, flowing an excellent punt return from Falconer, McNey
took to the air with a precision pass to Street at the far corner
of the endzone, with Paul Keys adding a successful two point conversion
attempt to make it 14-0 for the Trojans.
The momentum
then swung back in favour of the visitors early in the second quarter
when the Edinburgh defense forced the first turnover of the day.
Then on the
next play, the visitor’s offensive machine was motoring when
Graham Tannahill connected with Dave Molloy who took the ball to
the 2 yard line.
Then on the
next play, Molloy worked his “Magic”, cutting through
the home defense to reduce the deficit to eight points.
Edinburgh’s
joy was short lived, when on the next Trojans drive, McNey fired
an 80 yard completion to Street for another score, with Keys once
again on hand to bring in another successful conversion attempt.
There was very
little to separate the teams till the latter stages of the third
quarter, when Falconer burned the Astroturf again spring to four
yards from the goal line.
Then two plays
later, Sutherland, cut through the Wolves rear guard to give the
Trojans an assailable 22 point lead.
The Wolves,
with nothing to lose, stepped up a gear and soon had the Trojans
under some pressure early in the final period, but they were soon
stopped in their tracks when Mike Smith pulled off a crucial interception,
just in front of the goal line.
But the visitors
were soon handed a second bite at the cherry, when Price intercepted
a McNey pass and made no mistake, when he took the ball back 15
yards for a touchdown.

However with
three minutes of the game remaining, the Trojans continued to hang
on to their 18 point advantage.
And just outside
the two minute warning, the Trojans killed the game off in style,
following an Edinburgh Punt, which was returned back by Sutherland,
sprinting almost two thirds of the way for a terrific final six
points.
