SAU POP WARNER WEEK 4

Highland Wildcats
26 Cumbernauld Giants 0
In week 4 of the SAU
Pop Warner junior kitted American Football League the Highland Wildcats
were once again at home this time hosting the Cumbernauld Giants.
After a shaky start
the Wildcats offence finally hit home when Stuart Harrison found himself
on the end of 15yard pass from quarterback Paul Kirkland leaving him to
run 5 yards to the endzone to open the scoring for the Wildcats and spark
the offense into action, and Chris Gordon kicked the two points.
The Wildcats turned
to their air attack with no less than 6 different receivers snapping up
catches from the two Wildcat quarterbacks Paul Kirkland and Kenny Mackay
for a combined total of 180 yards passing.
The
Highland defence although slow to start, by the second quarter had managed
to completely contain the Giants and by the third quarter had shut down
any Giant offense. Chris Gordon added a further touchdown in the second
quarter on a 10 yard passing play.
James Pyke finished
the scoring with 2 touchdowns, the first on a fifteen yard run and the
second on a similar play but this time thanks to some great lead blocking
from Chris Gordon was a much easier score.
Final score Highland
Wildcats 26 Cumbernauld Giants 0.
The Highland Wildcats
look forward to their final away game of the season when they travel to
Wishaw to play the Clyde Valley Falcons on October 10th.
